MIAMI LOVES ROBOTS
Author's Note: After spending years making mashups on the now defunct JamGlue during high school, my interests quickly shifted to DJing when my parents bought me a Numark Total Control one Christmas. My first dip into the art of mixing, Miami Loves Robots was recorded live on that controller. I didn't have editing software available to me at the time, so every time I messed up I had to start recording from the beginning. Over 40 sessions and many hours later, the first installment of Miami Loves Robots was birthed. While far from perfect, I'm proud of it. It's an honest reflection of where my head was at at the time musically and bleeds my influences...so much so that I actually threw in a couple of nods to MSTRKRFT and Wolfgang Gartner by recreating some of their staple transitions from live sets.
